Futuroscope
Futuroscope, or Parc du Futuroscope (), formerly known as Planète Futuroscope, is a French theme park based upon multimedia, cinematographic futuroscope and audio-visual techniques. It has several 3D cinemas and a few 4D cinemas along with other attractions and shows, some of which are the only examples in the world. It is located in the department of Vienne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, north of Poitiers, in the communes of Chasseneuil-du-Poitou and Jaunay-Clan. The park had 1.83 million visitors in 2015. In total, 50 million visitors have been to the park since it opened in 1987. Chasseneuil-du-Poitou
Chasseneuil-du-Poitou (, literally ''Chasseneuil of Poitou'') is a commune in the Vienne department, administrative region of Nouvelle-Aquitaine, western France. It lies 7 km north of the centre of Poitiers. Its inhabitants are called the ''Chasseneuillais''. Chasseneuil-du-Poitou is the home of the Parc du Futuroscope, and the Technopole du Futuroscope, making up part of the ''École nationale supérieure de mécanique et d'aérotechnique de Poitiers'' (). René Monory
René Monory (6 June 1923 – 11 April 2009) was a French centre-right Gaullist politician. Biography René Monory was born in Loudun and began his career as the owner of a garage. He was the founder of the Poitiers Futuroscope. Monory first became a Senator in 1968. A member of the Union for French Democracy (UDF), he was Minister of Economy and Finance (1978–1981) in the government of Raymond Barre. He was President of the Regional Council of Poitou-Charentes from March 1985 to March 1986. He later served as Minister of Education (1986–1988) in the government of Jacques Chirac. He succeeded Alain Poher as President of the Senate in 1992. He served as President of the Senate for two terms.
