Futura 2000
Leonard Hilton McGurr (born November 17, 1955), known as Futura, and formerly known as Futura 2000, is an American artist. Futura began painting graffiti as a teenager in the 1970s in New York and crossed over into the early 1980s art boom. Known for his distinctive style, a fusion of graffiti and abstract expressionism, Futura painted backdrops live on-stage for British punk rock band The Clash's ''Combat Rock'' tour. More recently, he is a successful graphic designer and gallery artist. Graffiti (singular ''graffiti'', or ''graffito'' only in graffiti archeology) is writing or drawings made on a wall or other surface, usually without permission and within public view. Richard Hambleton
Richard Art Hambleton (June 23, 1952 – October 29, 2017) was a Canadian artist known for his work as a street artist. He was a surviving member of a group that emerged from the New York City art scene during the booming art market of the 1980s which also included Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat. While often associated with graffiti art, Hambleton considered himself a conceptual artist who made both public art and gallery works. Early life Hambleton was born on June 23, 1952 in Tofino, Vancouver Island, British Columbia. He received an Advanced Diploma from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design in Vancouver in 1975. Miss.Tic (born Radhia Novat; 20 February 1956 – 22 May 2022) was a French artist. She was known for her stencils of dark-haired women seen in the streets of Paris and associated with poetry. She was active as a street artist from 1985 onward. Biography Miss.Tic was born in 1956 in Montmartre, France, to a Tunisian immigrant father and a French mother from Normandy. She spent her childhood there until 1964 when the family moved to Orly, in the southern suburbs of Paris. She lost her mother, her little brother, and her grandmother in a car accident at the age of ten; her father died six years later. She was then raised by her stepmother, a barmaid. Speedy Graphito (or Olivier Rizzo) is a French painter who is considered a pioneer of the French Street Art movement. Speedy Graphito uses stencils and brush to create paintings, prints and street art murals. ''Combat Rock'' is the fifth studio album by the English rock band the Clash, released on 14 May 1982 through CBS Records. In the United Kingdom, the album charted at number 2, spending 23 weeks in the UK charts and peaked at number 7 in the United States, spending 61 weeks on the chart. The album was propelled by drummer Topper Headon's " Rock the Casbah" which became a staple on the newly launched MTV. "This Is Radio Clash" is a song by the English punk rock band the Clash, released as a single in 1981.
