Frøya Municipality
Frøya is the westernmost List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Trøndelag Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Fosen Districts of Norway, region and consists of the Frøya (island), island of Frøya, which lies north of the island of Hitra (island), Hitra, as well several thousand other small islands surrounding the island of Frøya. Frøya (island)
Frøya is an island in Frøya Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The island makes up about 63% of the land area of Frøya Municipality. The island lies in a large archipelago of islands in the Frøyhavet sea, just northwest of the entrance to the Trondheimsfjorden. The Frøyfjorden lies to the south of the island and separates it from the large island of Hitra. The island is rocky with heather-covered moorland as well as marshes and lakes. There are no naturally forested areas on the island. The highest point on the island is Besselvassheia, at above sea level. The southern and eastern coasts are relatively smooth, but the northern coast is very jagged with many fjords and coves. Sletringen Lighthouse lies at the southwestern tip of the island. The Frøya Tunnel () is an undersea tunnel connecting Frøya Municipality and Hitra Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. The tunnel, on county road 714, is located about south of the village of Sistranda on the island of Frøya (island), Frøya. The long road tunnel reaches a depth of below sea level. It begins in the village of Hammarvika on the Frøya (island), island of Frøya and travels south under the Frøyfjorden to the island of Dolmøya in Hitra Municipality. Frøya, Bremanger
Frøya is an island in the western part of Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. The island is located just to the southwest of the big island of Bremangerlandet and its highest point is Fanneskarvarden at an elevation of . Almost all the residents of the island live on the southeastern shore. The island contains the main village of Kalvåg as well as the minor settlements of Liset, Steinset, Nesje, Stranda, and Frøyalandet. Frøya is located on the northern side of the Frøysjøen strait, which is part of the seaway between the towns of Florø and Måløy. The island is connected to the nearby island of Bremangerlandet by a series of small bridges, and Bremangerlandet is connected to the mainland via an undersea tunnel and a bridge. Frøya Church
Frøya Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Bremanger Municipality in Vestland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Kalvåg, on the southern coast of the small island of Frøya. It is the church for the Frøya parish which is part of the Nordfjord prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Bjørgvin. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1865. The architect was the painter artist Anders Askevold from the nearby Askvoll municipality. The church seats about 400 people. History The parish of Bremanger had a church at Grotle on the island of Bremangerlandet, just west of the main village of Bremanger for many hundreds of years. The minelayer HNoMS ''Frøya'' was built for the Royal Norwegian Navy by the naval shipyard in Horten (town), Horten during World War I, with yard number 108. A fast ship for her time, she was kept in service until the Operation Weserübung, German invasion of Norway in 1940.
