Frédéric Cloutier
Frédéric Cloutier (born May 14, 1981) is a Canadian-born Italian professional ice hockey goaltender who plays for HC Merano of the Alps Hockey League. Undrafted by a National Hockey League (NHL) team, Cloutier played for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers. He signed with their NHL affiliate, the New York Islanders on January 5, 2006, and spent the rest of the season with them. He played for Canada at the Spengler Cup in Switzerland. Married to an Italian woman, Cloutier obtained Italian citizenship and began playing internationally for Italy in 2016. HC Merano is a professional ice hockey team in Merano, Italy. They play in the Alps Hockey League History Merano was founded in 1968. They won the Serie A twice, in 1986 and 1999. 2001–02 ECHL Season
The 2001–02 ECHL season was the 14th season of the East Coast Hockey League. Before the start of the season, the league saw one expansion franchise and five relocations, three of which were through the buying of the franchise rights of former clubs that had ceased operations. These relocations include the rights to the Columbus Chill moving to Reading, PA, the rights to the Hampton Roads Admirals moving to Columbus, GA, and the rights to the Miami Matadors relocating to the former ECHL market of Cincinnati, OH. ECHL
The ECHL (formerly the East Coast Hockey League) is a minor professional ice hockey league based in Shrewsbury, New Jersey, with teams across the United States and Canada. Competitively, it is a tier below the American Hockey League (AHL). The league serves as a farm system to the AHL and National Hockey League (NHL). The 2000–01 QMJHL season was the 32nd season in the history of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. Sixteen teams played 72 games each in the schedule. The Shawinigan Cataractes finished first overall in the regular season, winning their second Jean Rougeau Trophy. Simon Gamache of the Val-d'Or Foreurs is the top scorer in the league, wins the regular season and playoff MVP awards, and three other individual awards at the season's end. The Quebec Maritimes Junior Hockey League (QMJHL; , LHJMQ), formerly the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League is one of the three major junior ice hockey leagues that constitute the Canadian Hockey League (CHL). The Spengler Cup is an annual invitational ice hockey tournament held in Davos, Switzerland. First held in 1923, the Spengler Cup is often cited as the oldest invitational ice hockey tournament in the world.
