Fruitville, also known locally as Fruthville, is an unincorporated community in Mayhew Lake Township, Benton County, Minnesota, United States. The community is located along Benton County Road 13 at 40th Avenue NE near Sauk Rapids and Foley. In 1901, the community was named for brothers Simon and Peter Fruth, early settlers. Area code 320 is the telephone numbering plan code covering most of central Minnesota, excluding the Twin Cities metro. It was the fourth Minnesota area code, and the first new one in the state in 42 years. It was created in 1996 by carving out of the western part of area code 612, which originally stretched border-to-border from Wisconsin through the Twin Cities to South Dakota. It had been obvious for some time that 612 would need to be split due to the Twin Cities' rapid growth. However, the split was hastened by the proliferation of cell phones, pagers, fax machines and dial-up Internet access. Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
Sauk Rapids is a city in Benton County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 13,862 at the 2020 census and is 13,896 according to 2021 census estimates, about a third of Benton County's population. It is on a set of rapids on the Mississippi River near its confluence with the Sauk River. Sauk Rapids is part of the St. Cloud metropolitan area. History Sauk Rapids was originally little more than a forest of oak, maple and basswood trees along the Mississippi River until the first home was constructed there in 1851, a large mansion named Lynden Terrace erected by W.H. Wood. Soon other settlers followed and the town was named Sauk Rapids after the rapids just below the Sauk River's mouth on the Mississippi. The new settlement was along the Red River Trails.
