Friede Springer
Friede Springer (born Friede Riewerts on 15 August 1942 in Oldsum on the island of Föhr) is a German publisher and widow of Axel Springer. She is the main owner of the Axel Springer SE media conglomerate, and thus of Europe's largest newspaper ''Bild'', and one of the richest people of Germany. Biography A Frisian gardener's daughter, she worked as a nanny at the Springer family's home from 1965 onwards and later became Springer's lover and eventual partner. In 1978 she became Springer's fifth (and last) wife. She is a member of the Independent Evangelical-Lutheran Church in Germany. After Axel Springer's death she, together with children and grandchildren from his prior marriages, inherited Springer's shares in his publishing trust. At the time, Springer was still holding 26.1 per cent of the corporation, the rest was held by the Bavarian film trader Leo Kirch, the Burda family and several minor investors. Eleanor Friede
Eleanor Friede (d. 2008) was an American book editor and literary agent, best known for bringing the 1970 novella ''Jonathan Livingston Seagull'' to publication. Friede was born Eleanor Kask in Rochester, New York, and grew up in Valley Stream. She graduated with honors from Hofstra University and shortly thereafter went to work for World Publishing in publicity and marketing. She married Donald Friede, a World Publishing editor, in 1951. He died in 1965. Friede was working as a marketing director at Macmillan in 1968 when company president Jeremiah Kaplan convinced her to become an editor. A year later she persuaded Macmillan to buy ''Jonathan Livingston Seagull'', a fable about a seagull who breaks from his flock in search of freedom. The novella by Richard Bach sold more than three million copies in hardcover. In 1974, Friede received her own imprint at Delacorte Press. Michael Gordon Friede (born September 22, 1957) is a former American football wide receiver who played two seasons in the National Football League (NFL) with the Detroit Lions and New York Giants. He was drafted by the Lions in the third round of the 1980 NFL Draft. He first enrolled at Garden City Community College before transferring to Indiana University Bloomington.
