United Houma Nation
The United Houma Nation, Inc. is a state-recognized tribe and non-profit organization in Louisiana. It is one of the largest state-recognized tribes in the United States, with over 17,000 members. It is not a federally recognized American Indian tribe. Nonprofit The United Houma Nation incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in Houma, Louisiana, in 1979. Free People Of Color
In the context of the history of slavery in the Americas, free people of color (; ) were primarily people of mixed African, European, and Native American descent who were not enslaved. The Francophonie or Francophone world is the whole body of people and organisations around the world who use the French language regularly for private or public purposes. The term was coined by Onésime Reclus in 1880 and became important as part of the conceptual rethinking of cultures and geography in the late 20th century.
