French Flash Hawk
French Flash Hawk (1987–May 4, 2016), nicknamed Bozo, won four consecutive barrel racing champion champion titles with his owner, Kristie Peterson. He was inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2018. He was one of the mostly widely known rodeo animal athletes of his time. Early life French Flash Hawk, nicknamed Bozo, was born in 1987. He was a Sorrel (horse), sorrel gelding American Quarter Horse, Quarter Horse with a white Horse markings, blaze down his face. When Bozo was two years old, Peterson bought him for $400 from her neighbor Mike Hatfield. She came home with Bozo on Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving Day of 1989. Her husband Chuck gelded the stallion prior to letting Peterson start him. According to Peterson, Bozo's nickname originated from a circus from the sire of his dam's name. Lightning Bar
Lightning Bar (1951–1960) was an American Quarter Horse who raced and subsequently became a breeding stallion. He was bred by his lifelong owner Art Pollard of Sonoita, Arizona, and was the offspring of Three Bars, a Thoroughbred, and Della P, a Quarter Horse mare from Louisiana, then noted for the breeding of sprint horses. Lightning Bar raced ten times, achieving four victories and four other top-three finishes. His racing career was cut short by illness after only one year, following which he spent two years as a show horse. As a breeding stallion, he sired seven crops, or years, of foals, among whom Doc Bar was the best known. In 1960 Lightning Bar died of an intestinal infection at the age of nine. The American Quarter Horse Hall of Fame and Museum was created by the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA), based in Amarillo, Texas. Ground breaking construction of the Hall of Fame Museum began in 1989. Gills Bay Boy (1977 – July 4, 2012), nicknamed "Scamper", was a ProRodeo Hall of Fame timed-event horse notable for his success in barrel racing. His owner, Charmayne James, rode Scamper from 1984 to 1993 in the National Finals Rodeo (NFR). They won the Women's Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) World Championship consecutively from 1984 through 1993. They won the NFR in 1984, 1986–87, 1989–90, and 1993. He is also the recipient of the 1992 American Quarter Horse Association Silver Spur Award. Both Scamper and James won many other championships, awards, and honors. After being retired from competition after last competing in 1993, he was cloned six years later. The clone, nicknamed "Clayton", has been kept a stallion and stands at stud.
