Freeman Thomas (cricketer, 1838–1868)
Freeman Frederick Thomas (11 April 1838 – 1 December 1868) was an English cricketer active from 1860 to 1867 who played for Sussex. He was born in Lymington, Hampshire, and died in Sanremo, Italy. He appeared in nine first-class matches as a right-handed batsman who scored 89 runs with a highest score of 15. Thomas was the second son of Freeman Thomas (son of Inigo Thomas (grandson of Sir George Thomas, 1st Baronet) and his wife Hon. Sussex County Cricket Club
Sussex County Cricket Club is the oldest of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Sussex. Its limited overs team is called the Sussex Sharks. The club was founded in 1839 as a successor to the various Sussex county cricket teams, including the old Brighton Cricket Club, which had been representative of the county of Sussex as a whole since the 1720s. Arthur Goring Thomas
Arthur Goring Thomas (20 November 185020 March 1892) was an English composer. Life He was the youngest son of Freeman Thomas and Amelia, daughter of Colonel Thomas Frederick. His elder brothers included Freeman Frederick Thomas, a noted cricketer, who was the father of Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon, Viceroy of India; and Sir Charles Inigo Thomas. He was born at Ratton Park, Sussex, and educated at Haileybury College. He was intended for the Civil Service, but delicate health interfered with his studies, and in 1873 he went to Paris to cultivate the musical talent he had displayed from an early age. Here he studied for two years with Émile Durand. In 1875, he returned to England, and in 1877 entered the Royal Academy of Music, where for three years he studied under Ebenezer Prout and Arthur Sullivan, twice winning the Lucas medal for composition. Freeman Freeman-Thomas, 1st Marquess of Willingdon (12 September 1866 – 12 August 1941), styled as the Earl of Willingdon between 1931 and 1936, was a British Liberal politician and administrator who served as Governor General of Canada and as Viceroy and Governor-General of India. Sir Charles Inigo Thomas (21 November 1846 – 9 May 1929) was an English civil servant who spent his entire career in the Admiralty, serving as Permanent Secretary to the Admiralty from 1907–11. Lymington
Lymington is a port town on the west bank of the Lymington River on the Solent, in the New Forest (district), New Forest district of Hampshire, England. The town faces Yarmouth, Isle of Wight, to which there is a Roll-on/roll-off, car ferry service operated by Wightlink. It is within the civil parish of Lymington and Pennington. George Brodrick, 4th Viscount Midleton (1 November 1754 – 12 August 1836) was an Anglo-Irish politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1774 to 1796, when he was raised to the peerage of Great Britain as Baron Brodrick to allow him to sit in the House of Lords. Sir George Thomas, 1st Baronet (died 1774) was an English colonial government official, who served as Governor of the Leeward Islands. Thomas served as Deputy Governor of the Province of Pennsylvania between 1738 and 1747.
