Freds Pass, Northern Territory
Freds Pass is an outer rural locality in Darwin. The name Fred's Pass originally referred to a gap in the Daly Ranges through which the Fred's Pass Road (later part of the Stuart Highway, since bypassed) ran, and was named by surveyor W. P. Auld for his fellow-explorer Fred Litchfield, whose name is also commemorated in the nearby Litchfield shire. Events The Freds Pass Rural Show is held each May at the beginning of the dry season at Freds Pass Reserve. The event was first held in 1978 as a school fete and has continued grow over the years. In 2009, the show played host to over 200 exhibitors and attracted over 20,000 visitors. The show celebrates and exhibits achievements in local agriculture, horticulture, sport and community endeavours, as well as featuring many sideshows, rides and demonstrations. Electoral Division Of Goyder
Goyder is an electoral division of the Legislative Assembly in Australia's Northern Territory. It was first created in 1990, and is named after George Goyder, the South Australian surveyor responsible for carrying out the first freehold surveys in the area. Goyder encompasses large rural areas south of Darwin, covering 9,770 km², and taking in the towns of Bees Creek, Cox Peninsula, Virginia, Marlows Lagoon and parts of Berry Springs and Humpty Doo. When first created, it was even larger extending south to Pine Creek and east to Jabiru and the whole of Kakadu National Park. There were 5,583 people enrolled in the electorate as of August 2020. Coolalinga is an outer suburban area in Darwin. It is south east of central Darwin, south east of Palmerston and east of the proposed city of Weddell. Bees Creek is an outer rural area of Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. It is 33 km southeast of the Darwin central business district.
