Fredrik Nordström
Björn Tom Fredrik Nordström (born 5 January 1967) is a Swedish record producer and musician, and the guitarist of the heavy metal band Dream Evil. He is one of the leading melodic death metal and power metal producers in Sweden and has worked with some of said genres' top acts, including At the Gates, Arch Enemy, Nightrage, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork, Opeth, and Powerwolf. Fascinated by technology from a young age, Nordström opened a small recording studio in Gothenburg, mainly to record his own music. The studio evolved into Studio Fredman, one of the leading Swedish recording studios where he works with his employee Henrik Udd. In 1999, Nordström formed the heavy metal band Dream Evil to perform his own music, and as of 2024, Dream Evil has released six albums, one live DVD/CD set, and two EPs. Today, Nordström is considered one of the top metal producers in Europe, and one of the central figures of the Gothenburg style. Discography with Dream Evil *''D ...

Heavy Metal Music
Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a Music genre, genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. With roots in blues rock, psychedelic rock and acid rock, heavy metal bands developed a thick, monumental sound characterized by distortion (music), distorted guitars, extended guitar solos, emphatic Beat (music), beats and loudness. In 1968, three of the genre's most famous pioneers – British bands Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple – were founded. Though they came to attract wide audiences, they were often derided by critics. Several American bands modified heavy metal into more accessible forms during the 1970s: the raw, sleazy sound and shock rock of Alice Cooper and Kiss (band), Kiss; the blues-rooted rock of Aerosmith; and the flashy guitar leads and party rock of Van Halen. During the mid-1970s, Judas Priest helped spur the genre's evolution by discarding much of its blues influence,Walser (1 ...

Dragonslayer (Dream Evil Album)
Dream Evil is a Swedish heavy metal band, assembled by producer Fredrik Nordström in 1999. They have released seven studio albums. History Producer Fredrik Nordström had the ambition of creating a power metal band of his own for a long time, but had difficulty finding anyone with musical ideals similar to his own. However, while on holiday in the Greek islands during the year of 1999, Nordström met the young guitarist Gus G (from Firewind). The musicians got along quite well, despite an age difference of over a decade. Plans for a band commenced – Gus had already been planning to relocate to Gothenburg, and upon his arrival he looked up Fredrik at Studio Fredman to begin writing. The first person asked to join the new band was Snowy Shaw (from King Diamond, Mercyful Fate and Notre Dame), but the drummer initially refused their invitation. He would later change his mind and agreed to play on the band's debut album in a session capacity. Vocalist Niklas Isfeldt had don ...

Lunar Strain
''Lunar Strain'' is the debut studio album by Swedish melo death band In Flames, released in April 1994. The album is known for its " folky elements", with the inclusion of violins and acoustic guitars along with influences from black metal. It is the only In Flames album to not feature Anders Fridén as the vocalist and Björn Gelotte as either drummer or lead guitarist. Guitarist Jesper Strömblad plays the drums, while the vocals are sung by Dark Tranquillity vocalist Mikael Stanne, a session musician for In Flames at the time. Stanne had sung with the band previously on "Demo '93". Coincidentally, Fridén was the original vocalist for Dark Tranquillity and he effectively traded places with Stanne in 1995. As of 2010, no members who played on this album are still with the band. The songs "Behind Space" and "Clad in Shadows" were re-recorded in the album ''Colony'' (1999), featuring In Flames' future lineup; both songs were renamed with the suffix '99 at the end of the ti ...

Terminal Spirit Disease
''Terminal Spirit Disease'' is the third album by Swedish melodic death metal band At the Gates. It was released in 1994 (see 1994 in music) and re-released in 2003 with bonus tracks. It is the first album to feature rhythm guitarist Martin Larsson who replaced Alf Svensson in 1993. The band originally had wanted to record an EP of new material, but their label had insisted on a full-length album. To compromise, the band added several live tracks to pad the overall length. Background information Guitarist Anders Björler commented that he couldn't "remember much" from the recording sessions for ''Terminal Spirit Disease''. When compared to at the Gates' older material, Björler felt the tracks "were simpler and more to the point". A violin and cello are featured on the song "And the World Returned", cited as an example of the group's attempt to explore "ideas which were a little different". Reception Reviews for ''Terminal Spirit Disease'' have been mostly positive. AllMusic's Ed ...

Ceremonial Oath
Ceremonial Oath is a Swedish death metal band formed in 1989. They were originally called Desecrator, but changed their name to Ceremonial Oath in 1991 and disbanded in 1996. During their initial existence they released three demos, one EP and two studio albums. Several of the band members would later create or join bands that would achieve greater success such as In Flames and HammerFall, a band that would greatly influence the awakened interest in power metal and traditional heavy metal. Ceremonial Oath reunited for an appearance at the inaugural edition of The Gothenburg Sound festival on January 5–6, 2013 at Trädgår'n in Gothenburg, and also made appearances on a few other festivals later the same year. In addition to that, a remixed and remastered version of their 1993 album '' The Book of Truth'' was re-released in the beginning of 2013. Other than reuniting for a string of shows, Ceremonial Oath has no plans to record or release any new material. Band members Curr ...
