Freddy García (footballer)
Freddy Alexander García Carrera (born 12 January 1977) is a Guatemalan professional Association football, footballer who last played for Heredia Jaguares de Peten, Heredia in the Segunda División de Ascenso, Guatemalan third division. He has played for several local clubs since 1997, and also in Major League Soccer for Columbus Crew, where he won the 2002 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Also a member of the Guatemala national football team, Guatemala national team, he has played in four FIFA World Cup qualification, World Cup qualifying campaigns, and is among Guatemala's all-time top scorers. Puerto Barrios () is a city in Guatemala, located within the Gulf of Honduras. The city is located on Bahia de Amatique. Puerto Barrios is the departmental seat of Izabal department and is the administrative seat of Puerto Barrios municipality. 2002 FIFA World Cup Qualification (CONCACAF)
The 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification, ran from 2000 to 2001 in order to determine the three representatives at the 2002 FIFA World Cup. For an overview of the qualification rounds, see 2002 FIFA World Cup qualification. A total of 35 CONCACAF teams entered the competition. Guyana withdrew before playing, leaving 34 nations in the race. Mexico, USA, Jamaica and Costa Rica, the four highest-ranked teams according to FIFA, received byes and advanced to the semi-finals, while Canada advanced directly to the "play-offs" between Caribbean and Central teams. Mario Salvador Camposeco López (6 August 1921 – 17 June 1951) Source: was a Guatemalan professional footballer. Born in Quetzaltenango, he started his football career in 1938 playing for the local team ''América''. He then joined club Xelajú becoming its captain and helping the team become champion of the Quetzaltenango department for 10 consecutive seasons (1940–1950). In 1942 he was called as a reinforcement for CSD Municipal by coach Manuel Felipe Carrera to play against Atlante F.C. of Mexico, and in 1943 he was first capped with the Guatemala national team. The Central American Games () are a multi-sport regional championships event, held quadrennial (every 4 years), typically in the first year after Summer Olympics. The Games are open for member federations of the Central American Sports Organization (Spanish: Organización Deportiva Centroamericana) ORDECA in Central American countries.
