Frauengefängnis
''Frauengefängnis'' (lit. Women's prison; released in the US as ''Barbed Wire Dolls'' and in the UK as ''Caged Women'') is a 1975 Swiss-West German horror film directed by Jesús Franco. It is part of the women in prison cycle of violent sexploitation films that flourished in the 1970s and early 1980s. A women's prison tale, it stars Lina Romay as Maria, who has been jailed after killing her father, played by director Jesús Franco himself. When originally submitted for release in 1976, the British Board of Film Classification rejected it. It was only passed the following year after extensive cuts as was the case in Australia. Plot Maria da Guerra kills her father, who was trying to rape her. She is imprisoned in a jail where lesbian wardens torture the inmates. The women's prison, set on an isolated island, is run by a man who impersonates a doctor, Carlos Costa. Lina Romay
Rosa María Almirall Martínez (25 June 1954 – 15 February 2012), known by the stage name Lina Romay, was a Spanish actress and filmmaker. She often appeared in films directed by her long-time companion, and later husband, Jesús Franco. She appeared in approximately 109 Franco films made over a 30-year period, from 1973 to 2010. She sometimes used the pseudonyms Candy Coster and Lulu Laverne. Early life Romay was born Rosa María Almirall Martínez in Barcelona on June 25, 1954. She attended high school at Lope de Vega between 1964 to 1970. After graduating high school, she enrolled in the Massana Art School, where she met and married actor/photographer Ramon Ardid (aka Raymond Hardy). She began acting in amateur stage productions. Walter Baumgartner (16 November 1904 – 3 October 1997) was a Swiss film composer. He scored over ninety films, working in his later years with the producer-director Erwin C. Dietrich. Jesús Franco Manera (12 May 1930 – 2 April 2013), also commonly known as Jess Franco, was a Spanish filmmaker, composer, and actor, known as a highly prolific director of low-budget exploitation and B-movies. He worked in many different genres during his career, but was best known for his horror and erotic films, often incorporating surrealist elements. In a career spanning from 1954 to 2013, he wrote, directed, produced, acted in, and scored approximately 173 feature films, working both in his native Spain and (during the rule of Francisco Franco) in France, West Germany, Switzerland and Portugal.
