François de Noailles, 9th Duke of Noailles (''François Agénor Alexandre Hélie''; 20 November 1905 – 11 January 2009) was the nephew of Adrien-Maurice-Victurnien-Mathieu, 8th duc de Noailles. His parents were Marquis Hélie Guillaume de Noailles (26 May 1871 – 24 May 1932) and Corisande de Gramont (8 August 1880 – 5 March 1977), daughter of Duke de Gramont and Marguerite de Rothschild Mayer Carl ''Freiherr'' von Rothschild (5 August 1820 – 16 October 1886) was a German Jewish banker and politician, as well as scion of the Rothschild family. Early life Born in Frankfurt on 5 August 1820. He was a son of Adelheid (née Herz) .... He styled himself duc de Noailles (Duke of Noailles) on the death of his uncle Adrien de Noailles in 1953. Family He married Charlotte de Caumont La Force (29 September 1917 – 19 December 2002) in 1936 at Paris. Duke Of Noailles
The title of Duke of Noailles is a French peerage created in 1663 for Anne de Noailles, Count of Ayen. History Noailles is the name of a prominent French noble family, derived from the castle of Noailles in the territory of Ayen, between Brive and Turenne in Limousin, and claiming to date back to the 11th century. The family did not obtain fame until the 16th century, when its head, Antoine de Noailles (1504–1562), became admiral of France and was ambassador in England during three important years (1553–1556), maintaining a gallant but unsuccessful rivalry with the Spanish ambassador, Simon Renard. Henri de Noailles (1554–1623), son of Antoine, was a commander in the religious wars and was made comte d'Ayen by Henry IV of France in 1593.
