Franziska Preuß
Franziska Preuß (also spelled Preuss, born 11 March 1994) is a German biathlete and the World Cup winner of the 2024–25 season. She made her World Cup debut during the 2013–14 season and represented Germany at the 2014, 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics. Preuß has won gold medals at the Biathlon World Championships, triumphing in the relay in 2015 and the pursuit in 2025. She also secured the mass start title in the 2014–15 and 2024–25 seasons, along with the sprint title in the 2024–25 season. She achieved two top–3 finishes in the overall World Cup standings, placing third in the 2020–21 season and finally won the World Cup in the 2024–25 season. Winter is the coldest and darkest season of the year in temperate and polar climates. It occurs after autumn and before spring. Biathlon European Championships
The Biathlon European Championships are the top-European competitions in biathlon. The first edition was held in 1994, with sprint, pursuit, individual and relay. The number of events has grown significantly over the years. Till 2015, the competitions included also junior events but since 2016 the Junior Championships are held separately. Participation of non-European competitors Even though the event is called European Championships, the event is not restricted to European athletes only. The full name of the competition is Open Biathlon European Championships, meaning that biathletes from non-European countries are eligible to participate and their results being recognised.
