František Sokol (5 February 1939, in Tišnov – 11 October 2011, in Ostrava) is a Czech former volleyball player who competed for Czechoslovakia in the 1968 Summer Olympics. Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the program at the Atlanta 1996 Summer Olympics. Tišnov (; ) is a town in Brno-Country District in the South Moravian Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 9,200 inhabitants.
