La Franja (; "The Strip"; ) is the area of Catalan-speaking territories of eastern Aragon bordering Catalonia, in Spain. It literally means ''"the strip"'' and can also more properly be called (Aragonese Strip), (Western Strip) or (Eastern Strip of Aragon) in Catalan (in , "Eastern Strip of Aragon"; or simply /, "Eastern Strip", or , "Aragonese Strip"; in , "Aragonese Strip"). Franja Transversal Del Norte
The Franja Transversal del Norte (English: Northern Transversal Strip) is a region in Guatemala delimited to the north by an imaginary line between Vértice de Santiago in Huehuetenango and Modesto Méndez Port in Izabal and in the south by La Mesilla in Huehuetenango and Izabal lake. It is composed, from west to east, of part of the Guatemalan departments of Huehuetenango, Quiché, Alta Verapaz and the entire department of Izabal. It extends roughly 15,750 km2. During the Guatemalan Civil War, most of the massacres took place there due to the oil, mineral and precious wood reserves in the region. In the 21st century, there are projects to work in the region and a modern highway was built in 2010. Antonio Franja
Antonio Franja (born 8 June 1978) is a retired Croatian professional footballer who played as a left winger. Club career Franja been through football school NK Dinamo Zagreb. As a junior he signed with NK Croatia Zagreb (Dinamo ). He later went on a loan to NK Croatia Sesvete and as a 20 year old player he won the best second division player trophy. He then moved to NK Hrv. Dragovoljac for only one season. Then he signed with NK Zagreb and in 2001/2002 season they won the championship. In the 2002/2003 season he was signed to Turkish club Bursaspor. Franja moved to Portugal in the summer of 2005 to Vitória de Setúbal, where he remained for one season before returning to Croatia to play for HNK Šibenik. Ezmiralda Franja (born 4 February 1997) is an Albanian football defender currently playing for KF Vllaznia Shkodër. She has been a member of the Albania women's national team as well as the Albania U19 squad. Franja was part of the Vllaznia team that won its first trophy in women's football in September 2014. Democratic Convergence of La Franja (in Catalan: ''Convergència Democràtica de la Franja''; CDF) is a catalanist and liberal political party active in the Catalan-speaking area of Aragon, known as La Franja. Objectives CDF has two main objectives: * Defence of the Catalan language and culture in La Franja. * Improving the infraestrucure, social services and economy of La Franja.
