Francisco García (basketball)
Francisco Alberto García Gutiérrez (born December 31, c. 1981) is a Dominican former professional basketball player who played ten seasons in the NBA. The 6'7", 195-pound swingman played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals before being selected by the Sacramento Kings with the 23rd overall pick of the 2005 NBA draft, where he spent the first seven-plus years of his NBA career. He also played parts of three seasons for the Houston Rockets. College career He graduated from The Winchendon School. 2011 FIBA Americas Championship
The 2011 FIBA Americas Championship for Men, later known as the FIBA AmeriCup, was the qualifying tournament for FIBA Americas, at the 2012 Summer Olympics, in London. This FIBA AmeriCup tournament was held in Mar del Plata, Argentina, from August 30 to September 11, 2011. Argentina won the title, defeating Brazil, 80–75, in the final match. This was the country's second AmeriCup championship. Host FIBA Americas named Mar del Plata, Argentina the host of the 2011 competition on May 24, 2010 at a meeting in San Juan. Games were played at Polideportivo Islas Malvinas, which seats more than 8,000 fans. Taqwa Pinero (born Taquan Dean on August 6, 1983) is an American professional basketball player who lastly played for Élan Béarnais Pau-Lacq-Orthez of the LNB Pro A. Amateur career He was born in Red Bank, New Jersey and attended Neptune High School in Neptune Township, New Jersey. Dean was a star college basketball player for the Louisville Cardinals men's basketball, University of Louisville through 2006, where he majored in justice administration. Clifton Reece Gaines (born January 7, 1981) is an American former professional basketball player and former assistant coach at Austin Spurs. He is currently the head coach for the Newfoundland Rogues. High school and college career Gaines, a 6'6", 205 lb (1.98 m, 93 kg) shooting guard, played high school basketball at Madison West in his hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. 2005 NBA Draft
The 2005 NBA draft took place on June 28, 2005, in the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. In this draft, NBA teams took turns selecting amateur college basketball players and other first-time eligible players, such as players from high schools and non-North American leagues. The NBA announced that 49 college and high school players and 11 international players had filed as early-entry candidates for the draft.
