Francisco A. Marcos-Marín
Francisco Adolfo Marcos-Marín (born June 20, 1946, Madrid) is a Spanish linguist, an Emeritus Professor of Linguistics and Translation at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Previously he was ''professore ordinario per chiara fama'' in the Università di Roma 'La Sapienza', catedrático de Lingüística General at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and catedrático de Historia del Español at the Universidad de Valladolid. He is a Corresponding Fellow of Academia Norteamericana de la Lengua Española and Academia Argentina de Letras, and an Honorary Citizen of San Antonio, Texas. Andalusi Romance
Mozarabic, also called Andalusi Romance, refers to the medieval Romance varieties spoken in the Iberian Peninsula in territories controlled by the Islamic Emirate of Córdoba and its successors. They were the common tongue for the majority of the population in Muslim Iberia initially; however, over time, these varieties receded in front of Andalusi Arabic in Al-Andalus, and, as the Reconquista progressed, merged with Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese in the Christian kingdoms. There is at least one area of Southern Iberia, the Emirate of Granada, where Mozarabic is thought to have disappeared altogether before the Christian conquest. The final disappearance of these varieties dates to around the thirteenth century. The European Research Council (ERC) is a public body for funding of scientific and technological research conducted within the European Union (EU). Established by the European Commission in 2007, the ERC is composed of an independent Scientific Council, its governing body consisting of distinguished researchers, and an Executive Agency, in charge of the implementation.
