Francis O'Brien (Canadian Politician)
Francis Gerard O'Brien (December 15, 1927 – August 15, 2020) was a Canadian politician and farmer. He represented 2nd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1982 to 1989 as a Progressive Conservative. O'Brien was born in 1927 in Morell, Prince Edward Island. He married Rosella Magennis in 1953. He was a mink and beef farmer before entering politics. O'Brien entered provincial politics in the 1982 election, when he was elected councillor for the electoral district of 2nd Kings. The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Legislative Assembly meets at Province House, which is located at the intersection of Richmond and Great George Streets in Charlottetown. Leo Rossiter
Leo Francis Rossiter (January 15, 1923 – October 25, 1996) was a merchant, realtor and political figure on Prince Edward Island. He represented 2nd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1955 to 1981 as a Progressive Conservative. He was born in Morell, Prince Edward Island, the son of J. Edward Rossiter and Catherine Clarkin, and was educated at Saint Dunstan's University. Rossiter operated a general store and sold farm equipment. In 1946, he married Anna Pierce. He served in the province's Executive Council as Minister of Natural Resources, Minister of Fisheries, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Provincial Secretary. After retiring from politics, Rossiter served as chair of the Workman's Compensation Board. He also served as chair of the Morell Village Commission. Walter Bradley (Canadian Politician)
Walter Bradley (September 29, 1945 – June 2, 2023) was a Canadian politician. He represented 2nd Kings in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1989 to 1996 as a Liberal. Bradley was born in 1945 in St. Theresa's, Prince Edward Island. He married Florence Kelly in 1968. Bradley graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Education degree, and from Dalhousie University with a master's degree in education. He was a teacher by career, and later was principal of Morell Regional High School. Bradley entered provincial politics in 1989, when he was elected a councillor for the electoral district of 2nd Kings. He was re-elected in the 1993 election. Morell is a rural municipality in Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located in Kings County east of Bristol. Morell is located on St. Peter's Bay, two kilometres inland from St. Peter's Bay, a sub-basin of the Gulf of St. Lawrence. The local economy is centred on farming (wild blueberry farms), fishing (Lobster), aquaculture (Mussels), and tourism. It was incorporated in 1953. Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island (PEI; ) is one of the thirteen provinces and territories of Canada. It is the smallest province in terms of land area and population, but the most densely populated. Souris, Prince Edward Island
Souris is a town in Kings County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. It is located near the northeastern tip of the province. History Souris was founded by Acadians in 1727 as a fishing settlement at the mouth of the Souris River. These early settlers experienced several plagues of field mice in the surrounding area during the 1720s-1760s which damaged crops. Souris is French for "mouse" and a mouse is the Town's Mascot. It is said that "a French vessel passing by the bay in the early 1700s was forced to cut through the waves of drowned mice and so gave the name to the area. The 1744 map of Sieur de la Roque names the bay, Havre a la Souris”. Earlier names also included: Colville Bay, Grand Haven, New Bristol, and Red Cliffs.
