Fowler is a town in, and county seat of Center Township, Benton County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,337 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Lafayette, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Fowler was platted by husband and wife Moses and Eliza Fowler on October 26, 1872,"Moses Fowler had far-reaching influence" - '' Journal & Courier'', March 18, 2016 and originally consisted of 583 lots, though a re-platting on April 8, 1875, expanded it to 1,602 lots and 20 blocks. State Road 18 (SR 18) in the U.S. State of Indiana is an east–west route in North Central Indiana running from the Illinois border in Benton County almost to the Ohio border, terminating at U.S. Route 27 (US 27)/ State Road 67 (SR 67) in Jay County. State Route 18 is mainly a 2-lane road with exception of 4-lane divided highway from Marion to Interstate 69 (I-69). Marion is the only considerably large city that Route 18 passes through. Benton County Courthouse is a Second Empire style building in Benton County, Indiana that was built in 1874. It was nominated for listing on the National Register of Historic Places in 2008, and it was listed on the National Register on August 1 of that year. Fowler Ridge Wind Farm
The Fowler Ridge Wind Farm is a wind farm in Benton County, Indiana, near the city of Fowler, IN about northwest of Lafayette and northwest of Indianapolis. Fowler Ridge was originally developed in 2005 and 2006 by Orion Energy, LLC (Oakland, CA) and Vision Energy, LLC (Cincinnati, OH) and later sold in 2007 to BP and Dominion Resources. The project was constructed beginning in 2008 in two phases and has a nameplate capacity of 600 MW. Fowler Ridge was the second utility-scale wind power plant in Indiana, after the 130.5 MW Goodland I Wind Farm (also in Benton County and was also developed by Orion Energy, LLC (Oakland, CA) and Vision Energy, LLC (Cincinnati, OH)). Oxford, Indiana
Oxford is a town in Oak Grove Township, Benton County, Indiana. The population was 1,165 at the 2020 census. It is part of the Lafayette, Indiana, Metropolitan Statistical Area. History Oxford was Benton County's first town. Commissioners appointed by the Indiana General Assembly selected the location in May 1843 to be the site of the county seat on land donated by Henry W. Ellsworth and David Atkinson. It was first called Milroy in honor of Samuel Milroy, one of the commissioners, but a town in Rush County already bore that name. In October 1843 the commissioners changed it to Hartford, after Hartford, Connecticut (the home of Ellsworth and Watkins), but they discovered this name was also already being used in Indiana, so in December Judge David J.
