Forum Of Abkhaz People’s Unity
The Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia (FNUA; ; ; ka, აფხაზეთის ეროვნული ერთიანობის ფორუმი, tr) is a prominent oppositional political party in Abkhazia. It is led by former President Raul Khajimba (also the former Prime Minister and former Vice President). History The FNUA was founded on 8 February 2005 to unite 12 opposition parties, socio-political movements, public organisations and youth organisations, which however continued to exist as individual entities. It mainly brought together supporters of Raul Khajimba in the October 2004 presidential election. Khajimba had lost that election, but became Vice President following the power-sharing agreement concluded to end the post-election crisis, and the FNUA considered ensuring the strict implementation of that agreement one of its principal tasks. Daur Arshba
Daur Arshba (; born 28 March 1962) is an Abkhazian politician. He is the Head of the Presidential Administration, having been appointed by President Raul Khajimba on 10 October 2016, and Chairman of the pro-government Forum for the National Unity of Abkhazia. In the past, he has served as Vice Speaker of the People's Assembly and as Head of Tkvarcheli District. Following the death of Gennadi Gagulia on 8 September 2018, Arshba was appointed Acting Prime Minister of Abkhazia, a position he held until 18 September 2018. Early life and career Arshba was born in Tkvarcheli. From 1979 until 1984, he studied at the Faculty for History and Law of the Abkhazian State University. Zaur Ardzinba (Заур Джотович Ардзинба; 8 May 1950 – 15 April 2015) was a businessman from Abkhazia who unsuccessfully ran for President in the Abkhazian presidential election, 2009, 2009 election. 2009 election Attempt by Khajimba and Ardzinba to form an alliance In the run-up to the election, various opposition politicians and organisation often jointly expressed their criticism of the government. Aiaaira (political Party)
"" (; "Victory") is the national anthem of the partially recognized state of Abkhazia. It was adopted in 1992. The lyrics were written by poet Gennady Alamia, and the music was composed by Valery Chkadua. History The lyrics were written after Abkhazia's proclamation of independence in 1992. They used as inspiration the Abkhazian revolutionary song "Kiaraz" () that originated during the short-lived Democratic Republic of Georgia (1918–1921). In 1994, after the war for independence with Georgia, Valery Chkadua composed the anthem at the personal request of the first Abkhazian President Vladislav Ardzinba. Chkadua, who studied under Sergei Prokofiev and Dmitry Shostakovich, included various folk motives in the anthem. Chkadua, who refused royalties for the work, had written the anthem in the winter in a freezing, unheated house, but received housing as a thank you from the president. The National Forum Aidgylara (, ''Unity'') is a socio-political movement in Abkhazia. It was founded during Perestroika as the ethno-nationalist movement representing the Abkhaz people. Aidgylara's founding congress took place on 13 December 1988 in the building of the , where the writer Alexey Gogua was elected its first Chairman. On 18 March 1989, Aidgylara organised the mass gathering at the historical meeting place of Lykhny that demanded from the Soviet leadership the reversal of Abkhazia's 1931 Stalin-era incorporation into Georgia and restoration of full Republic status. In 1989, Aidgylara also started publishing two newspapers, the eponymous Aidgylara and Edineniye, as well as the regional publication Bzyb in Gudauta District. Apsny () is a political party in Abkhazia. First period (until 2005) Apsny was founded as a social movement in the 1990s, but was transformed into a political party in February 2001. The People's Party of Abkhazia (; ka, აფხაზეთის სახალხო პარტია, tr; ) is an oppositional political party in Abkhazia led by Iakub Lakoba. Its founding congress was held on 20 March 1992, and it claims to be the oldest political party in Abkhazia. At its fourth congress on 22 September 1999, the party adopted its current charter and elected its current Chairman, Iakub Lakoba.
