Fortino Hipólito Vera (1834–1898) was a Mexican people, Mexican Catholic bishop, born in Santiago Tequixquiac, Mexico. He was the first bishop of Cuernavaca, Mexico. He was a writer and defender of the apparitions of the Virgin of Guadalupe. His collection of related documents is an important source for scholars studying the Guadalupe tradition. Fortino Jaime
Fortino Jaime Ibarra (Ixtlán del Río, Nayarit or Hostotipaquillo, Jalisco, 1881 or 1883-Guadalajara, Jalisco, 12 February 1951), was a Mexican publisher, literary promoter, printer, bookbinder, and bookseller. Biography His parents were Pablo Jaime and Basilia Ibarra. He studied Elementary School in Hostotipaquillo. Later moved to Guadalajara to continue his studies, and in 1897, when he was 14 or 15 years old, he was already one of the most distinguished students of the Conciliar Seminary of Guadalajara, where he obtained the highest marks and medals of honor in Grammar, Latin, and French. In 1900 he left his studies at the seminary and immediately established a stationery business that was attended by his sisters Daría and Rafaela. Fortino Sámano
Carlos Fortino Sámano was a 1st rank captain ( Capitán primero) of the Constitutional Army under Venustiano Carranza during the Mexican Revolution. He was accused of robbery with violence against an old lady, and after a military trial was sentenced to death in 1916 and finally was executed by a Federal firing squad on 2 March 1917. Before being executed, his last will was a glass of Chile chipotle liquor, which was conceded by his executors. Laura Michele Fortino (born January 30, 1991) is a Canadian-Italian ice hockey defenceman and coach, currently playing in the Italian Hockey League Women (IHLW) with the EV Bozen Eagles. A former member of the Canadian national team, she won two Olympic medals and six World Championship medals during 2011 to 2019. The Fortino di Mazzallakkar is a ruined Arab fort in Sambuca di Sicilia, Sicily. It is located near Lago Arancio, and is partially submerged by its waters for six months of every year. History The Fortino di Mazzallakkar was built by the Arabs in around 830 AD, possibly to defend the territory around Sambuca di Sicilia, which was then known as Zabut. The fort was still in good condition until the mid-20th century, and it was used as a shelter for sheep and cattle. In the 1950s, the Carboj dam was built, causing the flooding of Lago Arancio. The fort is located at the edge of the lake, and is partially submerged around 6 months of the year. This has caused a lot of damage to the fort.
