The Fort Portal–Kasese–Mpondwe Road, also Fort Portal–Mpondwe Road, is a road in the Western Region of Uganda, connecting the towns of Fort Portal, Hima, Kasese, Kikorongo and the border town of Mpondwe. Location The road starts at Fort Portal, the headquarters of Kabarole District. It travels southwest through Rwimi, Hima, Kasese and Kikorongo. At Kiorongo, the road makes a 90 degree turn west to end at Mpondwe, at the international border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a total distance of about . Fort Portal formerly Kabarole () is a city located in the Western Region, Uganda, Western Region of Uganda. It is the seat of both Kabarole District and historically of the Tooro Kingdom. Etymology Fort Portal was named after British Diplomacy, diplomat Gerald Portal, Sir Gerald Portal, as it was where his base was. The Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) was a government agency mandated to develop and maintain the national roads network, advise the government on general roads policy, contribute to the addressing of national transport concerns, and perform certain other functions. UNRA is charged with, among other things, the selection of contractors, the supervision of construction, the scheduling of maintenance, and the prioritization of national road works. Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is a national park in the Western Region, Uganda, Western Region of Uganda. Location Queen Elizabeth National Park (QENP) spans the districts of Kasese District, Kasese, Kamwenge District, Kamwenge, Rubirizi District, Rubirizi, and Rukungiri District, Rukungiri. Kasese District is a district in Western Uganda. Like most other Ugandan districts, it is named after its chief town and district headquarters, the town of Kasese. Rwimi is a town in Bunyangabu District in the Western Region of Uganda. With an estimated population of 16,200 in 2020 it is the largest urban center in the district, but the district headquarters are located elsewhere; in Kibiito. Kabarole District
Kabarole District is a Districts of Uganda, district in Western Region, Uganda, Western Uganda. Kabarole District is part of the Tooro Kingdom. Its main town was Fort Portal before 1 July 2020 when it was elevated to a city, separating it from Kabarole district. The new Kabarole district seat is proporsed in Busoro Town Council.
