Ford Model A (1927–1931)
The Ford Model A (also colloquially called the A-Model Ford or the A, and A-bone among Five-window, hot rodders and Custom car#Language, customizers) is the Ford Motor Company's second market success, replacing the venerable Ford Model T, Model T which had been produced for 18 years. It was first produced on October 20, 1927, but not introduced until December 2. This new Model A (Ford Model A (1903–04), a previous model had used the name in 1903–04) was designated a 1928 model and was available in four standard colors. By February 4, 1929, one million Model A's had been sold, and by July 24, two million.Gauld, p. 693. Norfolk Assembly
Norfolk Assembly was a Ford manufacturing plant that opened on April 20, 1925 on the Elizabeth River, near downtown Norfolk, Virginia, eventually closing in 2007 as part of Ford's Way Forward restructuring — after manufacturing more than 7.9 million cars and trucks over almost a century of production. Modeled after the River Rouge Plant, the facility eventually included a power house, water treatment plant, barber shop, safety-shoe store, restaurant, fitness center and TV studio. At the time of its closure, Ford employed more than 2,600 people at the facility. Ford invested $375 million at the plant in 2002 to upgrade it for production of the redesigned eleventh generation 2004 F-150. Trafford Park
Trafford Park is an area of the metropolitan borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, opposite Salford Quays on the southern side of the Manchester Ship Canal, southwest of Manchester city centre and north of Stretford. Twin Cities Assembly Plant
The Twin Cities Assembly Plant was a Ford Motor Company manufacturing facility in Saint Paul, Minnesota, United States, that operated from 1925 to 2011. In 1912, Ford's first assembly and sales activities in Minnesota began in a former warehouse in Minneapolis. By 1925, Ford had relocated its local operations to the bluffs above the Mississippi River in the Highland Park neighborhood of Saint Paul. In 2006, Ford officials announced plans to close the factory, though it operated for three years past the 2008 closure date initially announced.
