Football Club Matera, more commonly known as Matera, is an Italian football club society based in the town of Matera. They play in Serie D. The first city club, named U.S. Matera, was founded in 1933. During its history, the team went through several bankruptcies and re-establishments. In September 2022, it retook the name and logo of FC Matera. Seconda Categoria
The Seconda Categoria is the 8th level (since 2014–15) in the Italian football league system. Each individual league winner within the Seconda Categoria level progresses to their closest regional league in the Prima Categoria level. Depending on each league's local rules, a number of teams each year are relegated from each league, to the 9th level of Italian football, the Terza Categoria. This level of Italian football is completely amateur and is run on a regional level by a Regional Committee (Comitato Regionale). Giovanni Di Lorenzo (born 4 August 1993) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a right-back for club Napoli, which he captains, and the Italy national team. Fernando Veneranda (23 May 1941 – 1 March 2007 in Porto San Giorgio) was an Italian football (soccer) player and manager. Playing career Veneranda, a forward, started his professional career for Fiorentina, where he played from 1960 to 1963. He never played a single Serie A match, but appeared in a Cup Winners' Cup match, as well as in the Coppa Italia and Mitropa Cup. He owns the record of being the Fiorentina players with the highest number of appearances without having ever played a league match. He then played for a number of Serie A, B and C clubs. Francesco Mancini (10 October 1968 – 30 March 2012) was an Italian football player and coach. A goalkeeper, he spent most of his career with Foggia during the 1990s. Career Early career Mancini started his career at hometown club Matera in 1985. He later played for Bisceglie in 1987. Foggia Mancini joined Foggia in 1987 and remained with the club for a decade.
