Flucom, Missouri
Flucom is an unincorporated community in southern Jefferson County, Missouri, Jefferson County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. The community is located on Plattin Creek approximately eight miles south of Festus, Missouri, Festus. US Route 67 passes about two miles to the west. History A post office called Flucom was established in 1891, and remained in operation until 1921. According to tradition, the name Flucom is a transfer from a similarly-named place in Germany. Jefferson County is located in the eastern portion of the state of Missouri. It is a part of the St. Louis Metropolitan Area. As of the 2020 census, the population was 226,739, making it the sixth-most populous county in Missouri. Its county seat is Hillsboro. The county was organized in 1818 and named in honor of former president Thomas Jefferson. In 1980, according to the U.S. census held that year, the county contained the mean center of U.S. population. Plattin Creek
Plattin Creek is a stream in northeastern St. Francois and Jefferson counties in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is a tributary of the Mississippi River. The headwaters arise in St. Francois County at and it flows to the north past the community of Koester to enter Jefferson County. It continues to the north passing the community of Plattin and passing under US Route 61 and I-55 at the south edge of Festus. The stream veers to the east and enters the Mississippi southeast of Crystal City at at an elevation of 390 feet. Plattin Creek most likely derives its name from nearby La Platte Mine. Festus is a city situated in Jefferson County, Missouri, United States, and is also a suburb of St. Louis. It had a population of 12,706 individuals as of the 2020 census. US Route 67
U.S. Route 67 is a major north–south U.S. highway which extends for 1,560 miles (2,511 km) in the Central United States. The southern terminus of the route is at the United States-Mexico border in Presidio, Texas, where it continues south as Mexican Federal Highway 16 upon crossing the Rio Grande. The northern terminus is at U.S. Route 52 in Sabula, Iowa. US 67 crosses the Mississippi River twice along its routing. The first crossing is at West Alton, Missouri, where US 67 uses the Clark Bridge to reach Alton, Illinois.
