Fleshquartet
Fleshquartet ( sv, Fläskkvartetten) is a Swedish band. Despite the band's name, Fläskkvartetten is in reality a quintet consisting of an electrical string quartet plus a percussionist. The band often collaborates with vocalists who comprise a veritable Who's Who of Swedish alternative music. The musical style ranges from classical string music to experimental rock. Three of the members, Örjan Högberg, Jonas Lindgren and Mattias Helldén, met at Royal College of Music in Stockholm in the 1970s. They were joined by Sebastian Öberg and Johan Söderberg before the band released their first album. Fläskkvartetten won a Grammis award for the best instrumental album for Goodbye Sweden in 1990 and another Grammis for best album with their 1993 album "Flow". They received the Spelmannen award from Expressen in 2002. Grammis
The Grammis are music awards presented annually to musicians and songwriters in Sweden. The oldest Swedish music awards, they were instituted as a local equivalent of the Grammy Awards given in the United States. The awards ceremony is generally held each year in February in Stockholm. The awards were established in 1969 and awarded until 1972 when they were cancelled, then revived in 1987. There are around 20 different award categories, which have changed over the years. Swedish artists and foreign artists who live in Sweden are eligible, as are artists in other countries if their music is produced in Sweden and targets a Swedish audience. Freddie Wadling
Berndt Arvid Freddie Wadling (2 August 1951 – 2 June 2016) was a Swedish singer born in Gothenburg, whose over-thirty-year musical career extended from punk to classical ballads. Band member Wadling played bass in a number of bands during the 1970s and early 1980s. One notable band was Liket Lever (which translates as The Corpse Lives). In the early 1980s, he joined the cult band Cortex. During this period, Cortex released the album ''Spinal Injuries'', in 1981. The track "The Freaks", sung by Wadling, became a signature song for him and was used in the soundtrack to '' Tjenare Kungen''. He also played in the bands Straitjacket, Leather Nun, and Fleshquartet. Wadling was also featured in band Kingdom of Evol. Joakim Thåström
Sven Joakim Eriksson Thåström (born 20 March 1957), better known as Thåström, is a Swedish singer and songwriter, mostly known for the bands Ebba Grön and Imperiet. He has moved between a number of genres, from punk to rock, industrial and autobiographical singer-songwriter music. Life and career Early career and Ebba Grön Thåström grew up on Skebokvarnsvägen in Högdalen, south of Stockholm. He formed his first band "Helt sonika" with Thomas Svanljung, Lars Elffors, Lennart "Elton" Hellgren, Bosse Steinholtz and Lars Bremer. Morgan Ã…gren
Morgan Ågren (born 1967) is a Swedish drummer who plays with the progressive rock band Kaipa. Biography A native of Umeå, Västerbotten, Ågren was spotted as an outstanding talent at a young age as he began performing publicly at age seven, and eventually joined forces with Mats Öberg in 1981. They later formed "Zappsteetoot" together in 1984, a band internationally known for performing Frank Zappa's music. In 1988, at the age of 20, Morgan Ågren was, along with Mats Öberg, invited by Frank Zappa to do a guest performance at Zappa's Stockholm concert. Jean-Louis Huhta
Jean-Louis Patrik Huhta (born 30 April 1965) is a Swedish musician. He has played in various bands going back through the mid 1980s, ranging from punk and art music to grindcore and funk. Career Huhta began his musical career in the early 1980s as a member of Freddie Wadling's post-punk band Cortex. He later joined the hardcore band Anti Cimex, in which he played percussion between 1984 and 1987. Since then, he has participated in various groups and experimental art projects. Together with Texas Instruments, he created rhythm-based industrial noise and as a member of the art collective Lucky People Center, he found his way to contemporary dance music. Christian Olsson (musician)
Christian Olsson (born 25 January 1980) is a former Swedish athlete competing in high jump and triple jump. He won an Olympic gold medal, one gold and one silver medal in the World Championships and two gold medals in the European Championships as well as a further two golds in the World Indoor championships. He also won the overall IAAF Golden League jackpot in 2004 where he cashed in 500,000 US dollars (after splitting the million dollar pot with Tonique Williams-Darling). From 2007 to his retirement in 2012, he was beset by injuries which left him largely on the sidelines and unable to compete at top level competitions.
