The state flag of Tatarstan, a republic of Russia, was introduced in 1991. History The Supreme Council of the Tatar Soviet Socialist Republic adopted the flag on 29 November 1991 in its present form. It was designed by T.G. Khaziakhmetov (Tawil Xaciəxmətov). The Tatar Encyclopedia states: "The flag is a state symbol that expresses the sovereignty of the Republic of Tatarstan, the identity and traditions of the people of Tatarstan. The national flag of the Republic of Tatarstan consists of a rectangular panel with horizontal stripes of green, white and red. The flag of Chechnya () is a rectangle with sides in the ratio 2:3 representing the Chechen Republic, a republic of Russia. The flag is composed of three horizontal bars of, from top to bottom: green, representing Islam; white; and red; superimposed on them is a narrow vertical white band at the hoist, containing the national ornament, a design of four golden scroll shapes. All-Tatar Public Center
The All-Tatar Public Center (ATPC) was a Tatar nationalist organization founded on 7 July 1988 to promote Tatarstan sovereignty and self-determination. The ATPC headquarters were in Kazan, Tatarstan. On 10 June 2022 the organization was labeled an extremist organization and dissolved by the government of Tatarstan. History The first congress (''qorıltay'') of Tatar nationalists was held in February, 1989. The newly formed organization was named the ''Tatar Public Center'' (''Tatar İctimağí Üzäge''). The charter and the program of the ATPC were adopted at the second congress (February, 1991). The Golden Horde, self-designated as ''Ulug Ulus'' ( in Turkic) was originally a Mongols, Mongol and later Turkicized khanate established in the 13th century and originating as the northwestern sector of the Mongol Empire. The Khanate of Kazan was a Tatar state that occupied the territory of the former Volga Bulgaria between 1438 and 1552.
