Five Man Acoustical Jam
''Five Man Acoustical Jam'' is a live album recorded at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia and released in 1990 by the band Tesla, using acoustic guitars instead of the electric guitars for which pop-metal bands such as Tesla are traditionally known. The biggest hit from the album was the song "Signs", a cover version originally from the band Five Man Electrical Band, who also had a hit with the song. Other songs included "Love Song" and "The Way It Is" (hits from their previous album '' The Great Radio Controversy'') and covers of The Rolling Stones' " Mother's Little Helper", Creedence Clearwater Revival's " Lodi", and The Beatles' "We Can Work It Out". Tesla (band)
Tesla is an American Rock music, rock band from Sacramento, California. In late 1981, bassist Brian Wheat and guitarist Frank Hannon formed a band named City Kidd, which evolved into Tesla. By 1984, vocalist Jeff Keith, guitarist Tommy Skeoch, and drummer Troy Luccketta had joined the band, forming their classic lineup that appeared on all of the albums and live shows during their initial run. The band adopted the Tesla moniker shortly before recording their first album, as another band with a name similar to City Kidd already existed. Tesla rose to fame during the Glam metal, hair metal boom of the 1980s. Signs (Five Man Electrical Band Song)
"Signs" is the best known song by the Canadian rock group Five Man Electrical Band. It was written by the band's frontman, Les Emmerson, as he was traveling Route 66 while returning to Los Angeles from Canada and noticed all of the big signs and billboards obscuring his view of the natural scenery. The song popularized the relatively unknown band, who recorded it for their true first album, '' Good-byes and Butterflies'', in 1970. Their actual first LP ''Five Man Electrical Band'' had begun as a Staccatos album with Brian Rading, the band's bassist suggesting the band's new name from the song title. Slim's was a nightclub and music venue in San Francisco, California, which was opened by Boz Scaggs in 1988. Peter Mensch (born March 28, 1953) is an American music manager. He started his career in music management at the age of 26, managing AC/DC. In 1982, Mensch formed the management company Q Prime with Cliff Burnstein. Their first client was Def Leppard. ''BAM'' (short for ''Bay Area Music'') was a free bi-weekly music magazine founded and published by Dennis Erokan in the San Francisco Bay Area from January 1976 until June 1999.
