First Reformed Church (Lexington, North Carolina)
First Reformed Church, also known as the First Reformed United Church of Christ, is a historic Reformed church located at 22 E. Center Street in Lexington, Davidson County, North Carolina. It was designed by architect Herbert B. Hunter and built in 1927–1928. It is a steel frame building sheathed in tapestry brick, with a Late Gothic Revival style interior. It features a pair of corner towers of uneven height, pointed-arched portal, and a stone and stained glass rose window. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2000. Lexington is the county seat of Davidson County, North Carolina, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 18,931. It is located in central North Carolina, south of Winston-Salem. Major highways include I-85, I-85B, U.S. Route 29, U.S. Route 70, U.S. Route 52 / I-285 and U.S. Route 64. Davidson County is a county located in the U.S. state of North Carolina. As of the 2020 census, the population was 168,930. Its county seat is Lexington, and its largest city is Thomasville. Gothic Revival (also referred to as Victorian Gothic, neo-Gothic, or Gothick) is an architectural movement that began in the late 1740s in England. The movement gained momentum and expanded in the first half of the 19th century, as increasingly serious and learned admirers of the neo-Gothic styles sought to revive medieval Gothic architecture, intending to complement or even supersede the neoclassical styles prevalent at the time. Rose Window
Rose window is often used as a generic term applied to a circular window, but is especially used for those found in Gothic cathedrals and churches.
