''Firstline'' was a New Zealand morning news programme produced by ''3 News'', the news division of TV3 (New Zealand), TV3. The show was cancelled in April 2015 and was replaced by ''Paul Henry (TV programme), Paul Henry'', a new multi-platform show with Paul Henry at the helm. The two-and-a-half-hour programme, designed to compete with TVNZ's ''Breakfast (TVNZ programme), Breakfast'', first went to air on 7 March 2011. It was hosted by Rachel Smalley until mid-2013, after which the host's seat rotated amongst other ''3 News'' presenters. From January 2014, Sacha McNeil and Michael Wilson presented the show. Sports news was presented by Sam Ackerman. ''Firstline'' features regular technology segments including ''Tech Bytes'' on Thursdays, and commentary by Steve Simms, Paul Spain or Ben Gracewood on Mondays. Three (), stylised as +HR=E, is a New Zealand nationwide television channel. Launched on 26 November 1989 as TV3, it was New Zealand's first private broadcasting, privately owned television channel. The channel currently broadcasts nationally (with regional advertising targeting four markets) in digital free-to-air form via the state-owned Kordia on terrestrial and satellite. Vodafone also carries the channel for their cable subscribers in Wellington and Christchurch. It previously broadcast nationally on analogue television until that was switched off on 1 December 2013. Three is a general entertainment channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery New Zealand, with a news element under the banner of ThreeNews. ''Newshub'' (stylised as Newshub.) was a New Zealand news service that operated from 1989 to 2024 and served as the local news division of Warner Bros. Discovery New Zealand until its closure. The division, known as ''3 News'' until 2016, had produced news bulletins and current affairs programming for the television channel Three from its inception. It also operated a news website and on radio stations run by MediaWorks between 2016 and 2021. The Newshub brand was launched in February 2016 as part of the division's transition to digital journalism. MediaWorks sold Three and Newshub to US multimedia company Discovery, Inc., with the acquisition completed in December 2020. On 28 February 2024, it was announced that Newshub would shut down on 5 July 2024. On 10 April 2024, the closure was confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery, with Newshub winding down on 5 July 2024.
