Firies GAA
Firies GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Farranfore, County Kerry, Ireland. Affiliated to the East Kerry Board, the club is solely concerned with the game of Gaelic football. History Located in the village of Farranfore, County Kerry, Firies GAA Club was founded in 1962. The club has spent all of its existence operating in the junior grades. The club won its first-ever Kerry JFC title after a nine-point defeat of Cordal in 2022. Firies claimed the Kerry PJFC title two years later after an extra-time defeat of Ardfert. Farranfore
Farranfore () is a village in County Kerry, Ireland. It lies on the N22 road approximately midway between Tralee (10 miles or 17 km) and Killarney (9 miles or 15 km) and on the railway line connecting the two towns. Farranfore came into existence as a turnpike; a gate at the cross-roads in the village marked the boundary of the lands of the Earls of Kenmare. Transport Between 1893 and 1960, Farranfore railway station, which opened on 18 July 1859, was known as Farranfore Junction, as it was the point where one boarded for the spectacular train ride to Valentia Harbour, which was the westernmost railway in Europe. Ardfert GAA
Ardfert are a Gaelic football team in north County Kerry, Ireland. They are one of two clubs in Ardfert, St Brendan's Hurling Club being the local hurling club. They play in the County Junior Football Championship and Div 2 County League. By winning the Kerry Junior Football Championship in 2005 by beating Cordal 3–11 to 3–07 they were promoted to the Kerry Intermediate Football Championship and represented Kerry in the Munster Junior Club Football Championship and in that final they beat Erin's Own 1–08 to 0–10 and represented Munster in the All-Ireland Junior Club Football Championship. The 2014 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 127th edition of the GAA's premier inter-county Gaelic football since its establishment in 1887. It was played between 31 counties of Ireland (excluding Kilkenny), London and New York. Jack Sherwood
Jack Sherwood (born 17 February 1991) is a footballer with the Kerry senior football team. He has played with Kerry at all levels from minor to senior. He then moved on to the Under 21 team and played in the Munster final in 2012 but lost out to Cork. Following on from his displays with the Under 21 team he moved on to the Junior team where he won Munster and All Ireland titles. 2000 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship
The 2000 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 114th edition of the Gaelic Athletic Association, GAA's premier Gaelic football competition. The championship began on 7 May 2000 and ended on 7 October 2000. Meath GAA, Meath entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were beaten by Offaly GAA, Offaly in the Leinster quarter-final. On 24 September 2000, the All-Ireland final between Kerry GAA, Kerry and Galway GAA, Galway ended in a draw, 0-14 apiece. Kerry won the replay two weeks later by 0–17 to 1-10, thus claiming their 32nd All-Ireland title. The 1997 Bank of Ireland All-Ireland Senior Football Championship was the 111th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county Gaelic football tournament. The championship began on 11 May 1997 and ended on 28 September 1997. Meath entered the championship as the defending champions; however, they were defeated by Offaly in the Leinster final. Donal Daly is a former footballer with the Kerry senior football team in the 1990s and 2000s. He played his club football with Firies and East Kerry. Club He played club football with Firies and East Kerry. With East Kerry he won three Kerry Senior Football Championship title in a row from 1997-99. Cordal () is a village and electoral division in County Kerry, Ireland. The townlands of Cordal East and Cordal West are in the civil parish of Ballincuslane and the historical barony of Trughanacmy.
