Firefly Express
Firefly Express is an Australian interstate coach operator. History Firefly Express' origins can be traced back to 1966 when Frank Bono and George Sita purchased route 406 Footscray, Victoria, Footscray to East Keilor from Barnes Buslines. In 1968 Bono took full control. In August 1974 route 504 Moonee Ponds to Clifton Hill, Victoria, Clifton Hill was purchased, being sold in December 1975. In November 1986 Firefly commenced operating an overnight Melbourne to Sydney service. In July 1987 route 406 was sold to CDC Melbourne, Westrans and the Melbourne charter licences of VIP Express purchased. In December 1987 a daylight service was introduced between Melbourne and Sydney but did not become a permanent feature. In September 1988 an overnight Melbourne to Adelaide service commenced. ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was a Sydney-based monthly trade magazine covering aspects of transport in Australia. Overview ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was established in July 1936 by Frank Shennen as ''Transportation''. It was renamed ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' in March 1940. It originally covered all forms of transport, but after a short while rail and tram news was withdrawn, with it focussing on the bus and truck industries. It was sold in 1986 to the Murray family. Shennen Publishing later founded '' Railway Transportation'' and '' Freight & Container Transportation'' that shared some content with ''Truck & Bus Transportation''. Austral (bus Manufacturer)
Austral was an Australian bus manufacturer in Geebung, Brisbane, Australia. Austral merged with it primary competitor, Denning, in the 1980s and was sold to the Clifford Corporation in 1996 before closing its manufacturing plant in 1998. History Austral was originally formed as Athol Hedges. It was later renamed Domino Hedges, and then Domino, before becoming Austral in 1982. This renaming occurred when it was purchased by the Australian Manufacturing Group. Austral produced originally bodied buses before diversifying into integral buses and coaches (body and chassis) in the 1970s. In December 1988, Austral was sold to JRA Limited who also owned Denning, Austral's largest rival in the coach market.
