Final Destination
''Final Destination'' is an American horror franchise that includes six films, ten novels, and two comic books. It is based on an unproduced spec script by Jeffrey Reddick, originally written for the television series ''The X-Files''. All of its films' plots are based on the premise of a small group of people who escape impending death after one visionary individual has a sudden premonition and warns them about a major disaster that is about to occur. After avoiding their foretold deaths seen in the visions, the survivors are later killed one by one in bizarre accidents caused by an unseen force, described as Death itself, that creates complicated chains of cause and effect, resembling Rube Goldberg machines. The visionary then reads omens in an attempt to again avert the deaths of the survivors. ''Final Destination 5'' is a 2011 American 3D supernatural horror film directed by Steven Quale and written by Eric Heisserer. It is the fifth installment in the ''Final Destination'' film series and serves as a prequel to the 2000 original film. Nicholas D'Agosto stars as a young man who has a premonition of a bridge collapsing, which he saves a group of people from. However, Death stalks and kills them one by one. Emma Bell, Miles Fisher, Arlen Escarpeta, David Koechner, and Tony Todd star in supporting roles. Despite '' The Final Destination'' (2009) being announced as the final film in the franchise, that film's financial success led to the development of a fifth installment, which began in 2010. ''Final Destination'' is a 2000 American supernatural horror film directed by James Wong (filmmaker), James Wong, who co-wrote the screenplay with Glen Morgan and Jeffrey Reddick, based on a story by Reddick. It stars Devon Sawa, Ali Larter, Kerr Smith, and Tony Todd. Sawa portrays a teenager who saves the lives of his classmates after having a premonition of a plane crash. Jeffrey Reddick
Jeffrey Reddick (born July 12, 1969) is an American screenwriter and film director, best known for creating the ''Final Destination'' franchise. Early life Reddick was born in Jackson, Kentucky and attended Breathitt County High School. He studied at Berea College. When Reddick was fourteen, he wrote a ten-page treatment of a prequel to ''A Nightmare on Elm Street'' and sent it to New Line Cinema. The studio did not accept unsolicited material, and it was returned unread. Reddick proceeded to contact studio founder Robert Shaye and asked him to read the treatment. Shaye read it and responded. This was the beginning of a letter-and-phone relationship with Shaye and his assistant that lasted for years. A Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a chain reaction–type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in a comically overcomplicated way. Usually, these machines consist of a series of simple unrelated devices; the action of each triggers the initiation of the next, eventually resulting in achieving a stated goal. The design of such a "machine" is often presented on paper and would be impossible to implement in actuality.
