The Filmfare Awards South are annual awards that honour artistic and technical excellence in the Telugu cinema, Tamil cinema, Malayalam cinema and Kannada cinema. They are presented by ''Filmfare'' magazine of The Times Group. When it was introduced in 1954, the Filmfare Awards initially only recognized achievements in the Hindi cinema. In 1964 the awards were extended to Telugu language, Telugu, Tamil cinema, Tamil, Cinema of West Bengal, Bengali and Marathi cinema, Marathi languages. Malayalam cinema was included in the awards in 1967 and Kannada cinema followed in 1970. Each industry is given its own set of creative awards in annual ceremonies that have predominantly been held in Chennai and Hyderabad. Madhu (actor)
Madhavan Nair Born on (23 September 1933) commonly known by his stage name Madhu, is an Indian actor, director, producer, former college lecturer and former film studio owner, who works in Malayalam cinema and a certain number of Hindi and Tamil films. He was a prominent lead actor during the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s and has acted in more than 400 films. Madhu has also directed 12 films, produced 15 films and at one time owned the Uma Film Studio. He was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2013 for his contributions towards the arts. He was honored with the J. C. Nedumudi Venu 2008
Nedumudi is a village in the Alappuzha district of the Indian state of Kerala. It is the birthplace of Malayalam actor Nedumudi Venu. Nedumudi sits on the banks of the river Pamba. It was the first village in Kerala to attain 100% Literacy. Climate Nedumudi is part of the lower Kuttanadu. It experiences a moderate climate; however, in autumn, the Pamba river overflows, causing problems. This flooding makes the soil rich for agriculture, the main economic occupation in Nedumudi. However, in 2010, due to the unexpected climate change, the chance of another agricultural season is becoming impossible. Nageshwaran Rao (born Cheyur Krishnarao Nageshwaran; (27 September 1933 – 31 January 2009) was an Indian actor and comedian mostly remembered for his comic roles in Tamil films during the 1960s.
