The culture of the Philippines is characterized by great ethnic diversity. In more recent times, Filipino culture has also been influenced through its participation in the global community. The Philippines is inhabited by more than 182 Ethnolinguistic group, ethnolinguistic groups, many of which are classified as "Indigenous Peoples" under the country's Indigenous Peoples' Rights Act of 1997.
