Fernando Mendes (footballer, Born 1966)
Fernando Manuel Antunes Mendes (born 5 November 1966) is a Portuguese former Association football, footballer who played as a Defender (association football)#Full-back, left-back. He is the only player to have represented the five Portuguese clubs who have won a Primeira Liga title (Sporting CP, S.L. Benfica, Benfica, Boavista F.C., Boavista, C.F. Os Belenenses, Belenenses and FC Porto, Porto). Club career Mendes was born in Setúbal. Having been brought up at Sporting CP's youth system at the same time as Paulo Futre, he made his first-team debut in 1984–85 Primeira Divisão, 1984–85 aged 18, and reached the Portugal national football team, Portugal national team shortly after. In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. The 2001–02 Primeira Liga was the 68th edition of top flight of Portuguese football. It started on 11 August 2001 with a match between Varzim and Benfica, and ended on 6 May 2002. The league was contested by 18 clubs with Boavista as the defending champions. Sado River
The Sado () is a river in southern Portugal; it is one of the major rivers in the country. It flows in a northerly direction (the only major Portuguese river to do so) through from its springs in the hills of Ourique before entering the Atlantic Ocean in an estuary in the city of Setúbal.
