Fernando Enríquez de Velasco (around 1466 - 1545), 1st Duke of Medina de Rioseco, was the 5th Admiral of Castile. Biography Fernando Enríquez was the son of Alonso Enríquez (1435–1485) and María de Velasco. He inherited the titles from his elder brother Fadrique Enríquez when he died without children in 1538. For his services to the Crown, he was promoted to Duke by King Charles I of Spain. Admiral Of Castile
Admiral of Castile was the representative of the King of Castile at the head of the Navy. It was a dignity created in 1247 that lasted until 1705. Admiral of Castile The title of Admiral of Castile was created by King Ferdinand III the Saint in 1247 for the successful Siege of Seville, appointing Ramón de Bonifaz to that position. Alonso is a Spanish name of Germanic origin that is a Castilian variant of ''Adalfuns''. The original Visigothic name ''Alfonso'' suffered the phonetic change of the phoneme /f/ into the mute /h/ in the Early Middle Ages (around 9th Century), what eventually suppressed the sound /f/ from the name, deriving in the modern form ''Alonso''. Due to the demographic particularities of the Iberian peninsula during the Middle Ages, this phonetic change was not uniform across the territory and the original form ''Alfonso'' also survived in different areas. Fadrique Enríquez De Velasco
Fadrique Enríquez de Velasco II (c. 1465–1538), 4th Lord of Medina de Rioseco, was the 4th Admiral of Castile and played an important role in defeating the Revolt of the Comuneros. Fadrique Enríquez was the son of Alonso Enríquez de Quiñones, Alonso Enríquez (1435-1485) (son of Fadrique Enríquez de Mendoza, Fadrique Enriquez I) and María de Velasco. He inherited his father's possessions in Palencia and the castle of Medina de Rioseco. On February 14, 1490, he was appointed Admiral of Castile by the Catholic Monarchs, Reyes Católicos. He was a cousin of King Ferdinand II of Aragon, son of John II of Aragon and Juana Enríquez of Córdoba. Juan Téllez-Girón, 2nd Count of Ureña (in full, ) (c. 1456 – 21 May 1528) was a Spanish nobleman. Juan Téllez-Girón was the third natural son of Pedro Girón, 1st Lord of Osuna and of Inés de las Casas. The Order of Santiago (; ) is a religious and military order founded in the 12th century. It owes its name to the patron saint of Spain, ''Santiago'' ( St. James the Greater).
