Fermín Arango
Fermín Arango Barcia (April 9, 1874 – October 5, 1962) was a Spanish-Argentine painter. He produced over sixty works in his career, which were predominantly landscapes. His work has been described as part of Impressionism and Symbolism, and was influenced by French painting. Biography Born in the Asturian town of Santa Eulalia de Oscos, Arango emigrated to Buenos Aires with his family when he was very young. There he completed his artistic training at the Association for the Promotion of Fine Arts of Buenos Aires. He had his first exhibition there in 1904 at the Witcomb Gallery, where he displayed paintings including ''El embarcadero del lago, La trancera y puerto Hauret, Nocturno, Idilio, Femme, La toillete,'' and ''Paisaje del Sena''. During this time, he worked as an illustrator for La Nación and Caras y Caretas (Argentina). Impressionism
Impressionism was a 19th-century art movement characterized by visible brush strokes, open Composition (visual arts), composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, unusual visual angles, and inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience. Impressionism originated with a group of Paris-based artists whose independent exhibitions brought them to prominence during the 1870s and 1880s.
