Feria De Málaga
The Feria de Agosto ("August Fair") or Feria de Málaga ("Málaga Fair") is a street fair that takes place every August in the city of Málaga, Andalusia, Spain. History The Feria de Agosto commemorates the taking of the city by the Catholic Monarchs (Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon) on 18 August 1487 (five years before the completion of the ''Reconquista''), at which time Málaga was incorporated into the Crown of Castile. The Catholic Monarchs gave the city the religious statue of the ''Virgen de la Victoria'' ("Virgin of Victory"). The recently formed city government began a tradition of commemorating the taking of the city. The first such celebration took place in the form of a procession on the Feast Day of the Assumption, 15 August 1491. Málaga
Málaga (; ) is a Municipalities in Spain, municipality of Spain, capital of the Province of Málaga, in the Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous community of Andalusia. Muelle De Heredia
Juan Carlos Argüello (23 September 1965 - 1 July 1995), known as Muelle , was a Spanish graffiti artist from Campamento, Madrid. Career Around 1980, during the '' Movida Madrileña'', Argüello started reproducing the logo he had designed on walls and public spaces of Madrid. It consisted of the word ''Muelle'' (Spanish for "spring"), or an R with an enclosing circle ( ®) and a line in the shape of a coiled spring ending in an arrowhead. At first, he used an ink marker and later spraypainted his signature extensively around Madrid (and to a lesser extent, in other Spanish localities). In the eighties, he improved his technique, using several colours in a technique labelled ''relleno'', wider borders known as ''grosor'', and 3-D effects. La Malagueta
La Malagueta is a bullring at Málaga, Andalucía, Spain. It is located in the eastern district of Málaga, in its namesake neighbourhood of ''La Malagueta''. The first event was held in 1876. The building is owned by the Provincial Deputation of Málaga. History The bullring was designed by Joaquín Rucoba, who also designed the Mercado de Atarazanas. Construction work started on June 16, 1874. The work was interrupted from December 23, 1874, until October 10, 1875. It was inaugurated on June 11, 1876, with a traditional ''corrida de toros''. In 1939, during the last months of the Spanish Civil War, the concentration camp at ''La Aurora'' had been filling up. The regime decided to use the bullring to house prisoners. In 1943, during the Second World War, it was once again used to house prisoners. In 1976, it was declared a Conjunto histórico. Copla (music)
The ''copla'', ''copla andaluza'' ("Andalusian ''copla''"), ''canción andaluza'', ''canción española'', ''tonadilla'' or ''canción folklórica'' is a form of Spain, Spanish popular song, deriving from the copla (meter), poetic form of the same name. Flamenco
Flamenco () is an art form based on the various folkloric music traditions of southern Spain, developed within the Gitanos, gitano subculture of the region of Andalusia, and also having historical presence in Extremadura and Region of Murcia, Murcia. In a wider sense, the term is used to refer to a variety of both contemporary and traditional musical styles typical of southern Spain. Flamenco is closely associated to the gitanos of the Romani people, Romani ethnicity who have contributed significantly to its origination and professionalization. Verdiales
Verdiales are a Flamenco music style, and song form belonging to cante chico. Originating in Almogía, near the Spanish port of Málaga in Andalucía, it is based upon the fandango. For this reason, the verdiales are sometimes known as ''fandangos de Málaga.'' Normally played in the key of E phrygian (key of C major with a sharpened fifth) and rarely in A minor, the verdiales have a 12-count rhythm similar to the soleares, and bulerías.
