FelsÅ‘tárkány is a municipality in the Eger District of Heves county, Hungary. Geography The municipality lies in the Tárkány basin, at the foothills of the Bükk Mountains, on an area of 7734.6 hectares, 6 km northeast from Eger in Heves county. History Middle ages The history of FelsÅ‘tárkány goes back to the 13th century with the first descriptive mention in the form of Oltarkan and Feltarlam in a document from 1261. During the 14th-15th century the settlement was made up of two parts, Alsó- and FelsÅ‘tárkány (''Lower- and Upper-Tárkány'') Between 1330 and 1335, Carthusians monks settled in the monastery built in FelsÅ‘tárkány. During the Ottoman invasion the medieval FelsÅ‘tárkány was destroyed in 1526, and was never populated again. Alsótárkány was also destroyed in 1552, but it was repopulated in 1577. Nemzeti Bajnokság III (''NB III'', ''National Championship III'') is the third tier of Football in Hungary, Hungarian football (from the autumn of 1997 till the spring of 2005, NB III was the fourth tier, the third was NB II). The tier contains 4 groups (northeast, northwest, southeast and southwest) of 16 teams. From NB III, the champions of each group will battle promotion play-off, two teams winning play-off are promoted to the Nemzeti Bajnokság II, NB II.
