The Lauberhorn ski races (Lauberhorn World Cup alpine ski races () ( downhill, slalom, and combined) are among the highest-attended winter sports events in the world, attracting around 30,000 spectators each year. Méribel () is a ski resort in the Tarentaise Valley in the French Alps. Méribel refers to three neighbouring villages in the Les Allues commune of the Savoie department of France, near the town of Moûtiers (), called Méribel Centre, Méribel-Mottaret and Méribel Village. Kvitfjell () is a ski resort in Norway, located in the municipality of Ringebu. Developed for the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, it is one of the most modern resorts in the world, with snowmaking on 80% of the alpine pistes.
