Palmas (, ''Palm trees''; Xerente language, Akwẽ-Xerénte: ''Akwẽ krikahâzawre wam hã'' ) is the capital and largest city of the States of Brazil, state of Tocantins, Brazil. Tocantins () is one of the 26 states of Brazil. It is the newest state, formed in 1988 and encompassing what had formerly been the northern two-fifths of the state of Goiás. The Brazilian Football Confederation (, CBF) is the governing body of football in Brazil. It was founded on Monday, 8 June 1914, as , and renamed Confederação Brasileira de Desportos in 1916.
