The Federação de Bandeirantes do Brasil (FBB, ''Girl Guide Federation of Brazil'') is the national Guiding organization of Brazil. It serves 6,201 members as of 2003. Founded in 1919, the coeducational organization became a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts in 1930. Program and ideals The association is divided in five sections according to age: * Ciranda (Brownies) - ages 5 to 8 * B1 (Guides) - ages 9 to 11 * B2 (Guides) - ages 12 to 15 * Guia (Guides) - ages 15 to 21 * Leaders - ages 21 and older The Girl Guide emblem incorporates the color scheme of the flag of Brazil. World Association Of Girl Guides And Girl Scouts
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS ) is a global association that supports Girl Guides, female-oriented and female-only Guiding and Scouting organizations in 153 countries. It was established in the year 1928 in Parád, Hungary. The organization now has its headquarters located in London, United Kingdom. It is the counterpart of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). WAGGGS is organized into five regions and operates five international Guiding centers. It holds full member status in the European Youth Forum (YFJ), which operates within the Council of Europe and the European Union. Bandeirantes
''Bandeirantes'' (; ; singular: ''bandeirante'') were settlers in colonial Brazil who participated in expeditions to expand the colony's borders and subjugate Indigenous peoples in Brazil, indigenous peoples during the early modern period. They played a major role in expanding the colony to the modern-day borders of independent Brazil, beyond the boundaries demarcated by the 1494 Treaty of Tordesillas. ''Bandeirantes'' expeditions also involved the capture and subjugation of indigenous peoples. Most ''bandeirantes'' were based in the region of São Paulo (state), São Paulo, which was part of the Captaincy of São Vicente from 1534 to 1709 and the Captaincy of São Paulo from 1709 to 1821. Girl Guides (or Girl Scouts in the United States and some other countries) are organisations within the Scout Movement originally and largely still for girls and women only. The Girl Guides began in 1910 with the formation of Girlguiding, The Girl Guides Association in the United Kingdom, following which, similar girl-only organisations were formed in other countries. Many girls and some organisations preferred to use the name Girl Scouts. The União dos Escoteiros do Brasil (UEB, ''Union of Brazilian Scouts'') is the national Scouting organization of Brazil. Scouting in Brazil was founded in 1910 and was among the charter members of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1922.
