Fedail Güler
Fedail Güler (born 1972) is a Turkish world champion weightlifter competing in the lightweight division. He is the world record holder in –70 kg division with 160.0 kg in snatch event and with 350.0 kg in total achieved at the 1994 World Weightlifting Championships held in Istanbul, Turkey. Born in Bulgaria of Turkish descent, he started to perform weightlifting in 1986. Riesa
Riesa (; ) is a town in the district of Meißen in Saxony, Germany. It is located on the river Elbe, approximately northwest of Dresden. History The name ''Riesa'' is derived from Slavic ''Riezowe''. This name, romanised as "Rezoa", appears first in October 1119 in a document from Pope Callixtus II. The world's first 110 kV power line was installed between Riesa and Lauchhammer in 1912. Between 1952 and 1994, Riesa was the seat of a district. During the 1980s, Riesa was the headquarters of the Group of Soviet Forces in Germany's 9th Tank Division. Weightlifting (often known as Olympic weightlifting) is a competitive strength sport in which athletes compete in lifting a barbell loaded with weight plates from the ground to overhead, with the aim of successfully lifting the heaviest weights. Athletes compete in two specific ways of lifting the barbell overhead. The '' snatch'' is a wide-grip lift, in which the weighted barbell is lifted overhead in one motion. The Bulgarian Turks in Turkey represent a community of Bulgarian Turks who immigrated over the years from Bulgaria to Turkey. They are notable in Turkey for being descendants of Balkan Turks who had to escape persecution. And moreover, part of them continue to be dual citizens of Bulgaria and Turkey, which makes them a natural bridge between the two countries.
