Father Dueñas Memorial School
Father Dueñas Memorial School (FDMS) is an all-male Catholic high school located in Chalan-Pago census-designated place, in the United States territory of Guam. It is within the territory of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Agaña. The school is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Most Rev. Apollinaris W. Baumgartner, OFM Cap. founded the school in 1948. It was named after Father Jesus Baza Duenas, Jesus Baza Dueñas, a Chamorro people, Chamorro priest who was beheaded by Japanese forces during World War II. The school began as a seminary to teach young men to become priests; it became a university preparatory school. History On October 1, 1948, Bishop Apollinaris William Baumgartner, Apollinaris Wiliam Baumgartner, O.F.M. Cap. established Father Dueñas Memorial School (FDMS) as a minor seminary and a high school for young men, near the site of Fr. Duenas’ martyrdom. The Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) is a Federal government of the United States, federal program sponsored by the United States Armed Forces in high schools and also in some middle schools across the United States and at US military bases across the world.
