Farsø
Farsø is a town with a population of 3,352 (1 January 2025) in Region Nordjylland in Denmark in the Vesthimmerland Municipality. Farsø was the birthplace of Johannes Vilhelm Jensen, winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. The village of Vognsild is located to the east of Farsø. Farsø is also called one of the head cities of Vesthimmerland Municipality along with Aars, Løgstør and Aalestrup. History In 1975, the city was described as follows: "Farsø with church, rectory, School, Pharmacist's retail store, District housing, Veirmølle". The town of Farsø got a savings bank in 1877. The inn came in 1883, but until 1912, it was only for road users. After the inauguration of Farsø Hospital in 1894, the city went well around 1900, had a meeting house (from 1897), a mission house (from 1898), a pharmacy, district housing, several merchandise and the joint venture. Vesthimmerland Municipality
Vesthimmerland Municipality () is a '' kommune'' in the North Jutland Region of Denmark. It covers an area of 768,08 km² (2013) and has a total population of 35,818 (2025). The Municipality borders Jammerbugt Municipality to the south and to the east it borders Rebild and Aalborg Municipality and to the south it borders Viborg Municipality and to the south-east it borders Mariagerfjord Municipality. Johannes Vilhelm Jensen
Johannes Vilhelm Jensen (; 20 January 1873 – 25 November 1950) was a Danish author, known as one of the great Danish writers of the first half of 20th century. He was awarded the 1944 Nobel Prize in Literature "for the rare strength and fertility of his poetic imagination with which is combined an intellectual curiosity of wide scope and a bold, freshly creative style". One of his sisters, Thit Jensen, was also a well-known writer and a very vocal, and occasionally controversial, early feminist. Early years He was born in Farsø, a village in North Jutland, Denmark, as the son of a veterinary surgeon and he grew up in a rural environment. While studying medicine at the University of Copenhagen he worked as a writer to fund his studies. After three years of studying he chose to change careers and devote himself fully to literature. Hvalpsund (city)
Hvalpsund is a ferry port in Himmerland with a population of 631 (1 January 2024), located 20 km west of Aalestrup, 12 km southwest of Farsø and 25 km southwest of Aars. The town belongs to the municipality of Vesthimmerland Municipality and is located in the Region Nordjylland. History Færgekroen The first royal license to run a ferry on the sound is from 1532. Because of the strong stream the ferry was a kind of barge that was rowed by 4 men. In 1549 the king, Christian III ordered the ferry to be established, and a ferry house was to be built for the travelers. On July 20, 1669, Hvalpsund Færgekro was privileged, and the innkeeper was responsible for both the ferry and the inn, as he had already done for some years. Løgstør
Løgstør is a town in Denmark with a population of 3,969 (1 January 2025) It is located 47 km west of Aalborg and 64 km north of Viborg. Løgstør's city centre consists of old streets with small houses built in the 19th century for fishermen and sailors. One of these houses was donated by Danish housemen to the author and poet Johan Skjoldborg (1861 - 1936) in 1918, who lived in the house until his death. It is located on Johan Skjoldborgs Vej.
