Farmington is an Unincorporated area#United States, unincorporated community in Marshall County, Tennessee, Marshall County, in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The community is concentrated around the intersection of U.S. Route 31 in Tennessee, U.S. Route 31 and Tennessee State Route 64, State Route 64 west of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Shelbyville and east of Lewisburg, Tennessee, Lewisburg. History A post office called Farmington was established in 1836, and remained in operation until 1902. Farmington was so named for its location in a farming district. The Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) is a database of name and location information about more than two million physical and cultural features, encompassing the United States and its territories; the Compact of Free Association, associated states of the Marshall Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, and Palau; and Antarctica. Lewisburg is a city in and the county seat of Marshall County, Tennessee, United States. The population was 12,288 in 2020. Lewisburg is located in Middle Tennessee, fifty miles south of Nashville and fifty-two miles north of Huntsville, Alabama. Residents have access to the larger cities via nearby I-65.
