Fairland High School (FHS) is a public high school in Proctorville, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Fairland Local School District. The school and district have been rated "Excellent" by the ODE multiple times. At least 85% of the student population is proficient in math and 62% in reading. History Fairland High School was formed in 1949 as a consolidation of Proctorville High School and Rome Rural High School. From 1949-1956, students attended school at the former Rome Rural HS. In 1956, a new building was opened adjacent to the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, hence the name "Fairland", and would remain the district's high school until 2002. In 2003, the current building opened and the 1956 building was renovated and transformed into Fairland Middle School. Proctorville is a village in Lawrence County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. The population was 574 at the 2010 census. The East End Bridge connects Proctorville to Huntington, West Virginia across the Ohio River. Proctorville is a part of the Huntington- Ashland, WV- KY- OH, Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). As of the 2000 census, the MSA had a population of 288,649. History The land where Proctorville is now situated was originally settled in 1797 and called Quaker Bottom. Situated on the Ohio River, Quaker Bottom grew throughout the 1800s as a trading center. In 1834, Jacob Proctor established a general store next to the wharf, and river boat captains knew the village as "Proctor's Landing". Gallia Academy High School (GAHS) is a public high school near Gallipolis at Centenary, Ohio, United States. It is the only high school in the Gallipolis City School District. The boys' sports teams are known as the Blue Devils, while the girls' teams are called the Blue Angels. History GAHS was founded as a military academy in 1811. South Point High School is a public high school in South Point, Ohio. It is the only high school in the South Point Local School District. The school is operated by principal Doug Graham and assistant principal Jeff Sanders. The district's mascot nickname is The Pointers. It is the only high school in the Rock Hill Local School District. The high school is a four-year school, offering grades 9-12. Their nickname is the Redmen, and their mascot is an Indian Chieftain. Brief history The Rock Hill Local School District formerly consisted of four separate school districts, which were located in the towns of Decatur, Hanging Rock, Kitts Hill, and Pedro. Portsmouth High School (PHS) is a public high school in Portsmouth, Ohio, United States. The school's athletic teams are known as the Trojans and the school colors are red and blue. History PHS has served the city since its founding in the 1830s and is the only public high school in Portsmouth. In 2000, Portsmouth voters passed a much needed school bond issue, which helped construct new schools for the district. The new schools opened for the 2006–2007 school year.
